Everyone is told from the day they are able to comprehend words, to be the best that they can, when they are in their young stages of life, they are told to be creative and find what makes them “them”
When we start school, we are told to work hard, so that we may make something of ourselves later in life.
When we enter high school, we are made to think that there is no life outside of the worlds of academia and business, and that anyone who does not work as vigorously as possible to achieve financial success over the other guy, is a failure in life.
When we enter college, its exactly the same, work to death, study hard, beat the next guy ahead of you, because the guy behind you is looking to do the same.
When we retire, we do nothing, we worry about the future, and when most of us can no longer fully enjoy our freedom, it is given to us, when our minds and bodies are beginning to fail.
Then we die, and are eventually forgotten, ten years, one hundred years, ten thousand years, it does not matter. Eventually even the idea of us crumbles to dust.
Even tales of the greatest of heros will eventually be forgotten.
So tell me, is it worth it to lose everything that makes us feeling creatures to play a game that in the end is worthless?
Don’t get me wrong, I am enrolled in University and working towards a Japanese degree, but I still believe that all of us need to stop every now and then and do what truly makes us happy.
Sadly though, too many of us have never found that happiness, or have forgotten what it was.
Take a walk, look around, imagine a world outside of your routine, every person has a life, a story, every stone you step on has history.
It’s a big world out there, don’t forget to look up from your desk every now and then to see it.
